We’re a network leaders from teacher preparation programs, school districts, pipeline nonprofit organizations, and higher education leaders dedicated to developing and increasing a strong pipeline of future educators of color in urban public schools.
We are training and empowering young people of color to be the next generation of change-makers in urban classrooms across California.
C4DE is sustained through a collective-impact framework. Each partner contributes by co-planning events, co-strategizing with recruiters, and serves as a thought-partner during bimonthly C4DE virtual partner meetings.
WE’RE IN A CRISIS
The elementary and secondary educator workforce is overwhelmingly homogenous (82 percent white in public schools).
22,000 teachers who started teaching this Fall will leave the profession by June. Why does this matter? #teacherdiversitymatters
WOKEshop™ Trainings hold sacred safe spaces for students and young professionals to engage in critical conversations about equity and racial injustice, meanwhile building fundamental soft skills to cultivate talent, cultural capital, and shape a life filled with purpose. Each training builds a foundation for authentic engagement in discourse related to our intersecting identities, diversity & inclusion, and the impact of a growing teacher-shortage crisis.
Our partners deeply believe the teacher-shortage crisis cannot be solved without 360 collaboration. We believe increasing diversity requires all-hands-on-deck. Coalition partners leverage network, organization brands and resources, share innovative strategies and practices, co-plan events, share data and connect candidates to internal talent leaders (one size does not fit all).
