Stephanie Castellanos, co-founder & executive director

Stephanie Castellanos is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Coalition for Diverse Educators. Her experience as the first in her family to graduate from high school and college, as the daughter of Mexican immigrants, and as a product of Inglewood, CA, has fueled her commitment to creating access and opportunities for communities of color.

Stephanie has innovated the recruitment strategies of national education and political organizations, working across more than 30 states including California, Illinois, New York, Texas, and in South Florida for President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign.

She currently serves as an Independent DEI Consultant, designing organizational diversity recruitment strategy, creating human capital processes and systems, as well as training talent staff for schools, social impact nonprofits and NGOs.

Stephanie was awarded the "Rising Star - Emerging Latina of the Year" Award in 2014 by the National Latina Business Women Association (NLBWA) and the “Community Activist of the Decade" award from Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., Delta Rho, the chapter she founded in 2008. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Major in Sociology and a Minor in Urban Planning & Regional Studies.

Ivan Ibarra, Director of Strategic Partnerships

Ivan A. Ibarra Mora is an advocate, organizer, and educator committed to transform our k-12 systems by ensuring our students are represented and supported by their community. Ivan has served as California Recruiter and Student Services Manager for Alder Teacher Residency at Aspire Public Schools and is currently the Outreach and Recruitment Manager for Alder Graduate School of Education.

Ivan began his career as an educator teaching fifth grade in Rio Grande City, Texas, with the ACE program from the University of Notre Dame. He served two years before relocating to his hometown, Soledad, CA to teach in his former school district. In his capacity as an educator, Ivan has developed after-school tutorial programs for his students, participated in district-wide initiatives, presented professional development to staff focusing on integrating technology in the classroom, and organized partnerships with school and community.

Ivan is currently a team leader for the Salinas Valley Dream Academy, a leadership academy that supports high school students in reaching post-secondary success by providing mentorship and opportunities that focuses on giving back to their local community while always reaching for better opportunities, such as a college education. He is also director and facilitator of El Comite de Gonzales, a parent education advocacy group in the City of Gonzales that empowers and educates parents in navigating the education system; especially inspire them to get involved in the shared governance of the local district.

Ivan earned his Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of California and was awarded the Lasallian Leadership Award for his work in social justice and advocacy on behalf of students. He also holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as a Teaching Fellow.
