OUR MISSION

The Coalition for Diverse Educators (C4DE) is a network leaders from teacher preparation programs, school districts, pipeline nonprofit organizations, and higher education leaders dedicated to developing and increasing a strong pipeline of future educators of color in urban public schools.

We are training and empowering  young people of color to be the next generation of changemakers in urban classrooms across California.

OUR VALUES

Recruiting educators of color requires a grassroots organizing approach, with students of color at the table, co-strategizing and co-mobilizing together.

Collaboration and strategic partnerships between traditional school districts, public charter schools, teacher preparation programs, higher-ed institutions, and nonprofit organizations are vital to addressing the teacher shortage crisis. We have no room (or time) for politics.

Providing access to professional development and equity-centered workshops for students of color is EQUITY and is at the core of our strategy.

In order to increase teacher diversity, we also need to increase retention of teacher recruiters. We build community because self-care is part of sustaining the critical work ahead.
